‘Matthew: You and people like you are why this country is in big trouble…’

Nope. Not according to Matthew. Matthew claims to have lived in Australia all his life except for travel. This claim gives him, in his mind anyway, the delusional advantage of being able to in turn claim that he is no partisan, but rather the voice of non-aligned dispassionate reason pointing out the misunderstanding of the author and commenters. The second claim is a very common trolling technique.

Now, it would certainly appear to the most casual observer, based on the frequency and nature of his comments, that Matthew acts as a kneejerk defender of everything the current administration does and this would belie his claims. His frequent use of the term ‘we’ when talking about issues that affect only the US would also seem to belie his claims. I think he’s nothing but a fabulist myself.

Be that as it may, the most accomplished of liars will always trip up eventually, but if one were to accept his claim to be an Aussie, two obvious questions arise.

Why is he bothering to opinionate about the article’s subject matter – matters of US national security that do not directly or arguably even indirectly affect Australia. Secondly, and more importantly, why should we care what an Aussie thinks about it or for that matter take his admonitions about our concerns as anything other than arrogant and ignorant nonsense.
