Hmmm….let’s see what really happened:
1) Lots of dumb, confused people voted Republican this last election.
2) This emboldened the current group of Republicans in office to be even bigger obstructive and useless a-holes than they’ve been so far.
3) Since congressional Republicans tend to act like remote controlled zombies in voting as a single unit, as even the minority party they can block pretty much anything without the Democrats having a super majority.
4) Obama wants to get things done, so he has to deal with these Republicans, even though they have no desire to be useful and just want to do stuff like reward rich people for being rich and punish poor people for being poor as has been one of their sacred duties for ages.
5) Since Democrats and liberals in general, and with considerable justification, consider Republicans to be always wrong and up to no good, they got P.O.’d over Obama’s wheeling and dealing with Republicans over extending the Bush tax cuts (which admittedly never accomplished anything aside from making the rich richer at the expense of expanding the deficit.)
6) Faced with having to sell the compromise to reluctant and unhappy fellow Democrats, he brought in someone well-versed in wheeling and dealing to help make the pitch.
7) Anything else you may have read or heard is most likely total BS.
