Everyone..listen to me..get a life! This movie is nothing more than a cartoon.Nothing more and nothing less. It most certainly is not history and can only be treated as such by those who do not care to actually read the primary sources – and read them with a very critical eye since, for the most part, the primary source is Herodotus who, no doubt, had every reason to portray my Greek forefathers in the best possible light and the Persians as barbarians. The movie is nothing but rockem-sockem, violent, brain dead, entertainment. It’s just perfect for American audiences and twelve year olds of all ages.

While Thermopylae is indeed a worthy historical example of men fighting heroically against a foreign invader, it is, nevertheless, not the exclusive example. In my small life alone, I have seen other Thermopylaes: Vietnam and Iraq are but some recent examples.

But, merely to recapitulate lest we forget: 300 is just a dumb cartoon -not history.
