This clip has been shown very widely in Australia.
It is disturbing. It shows a US President who is clearly not in control.
You may ask, ‘what business is it of yours’, and noone could blame you for that. But the fact is that the US and Australia have been the closest of allies for 100 years. Every war you have fought in, we have fought on your side. On (almost) every important political issue of the last 50 years, we have supported you. Our young people are, for some reason, almost inextricably combined in sport.
For some very strange reason we treat you, like the Brits and the Canadians and the Kiwis, as our cousins.
It is therefore very disturbing to us to watch this sort of thing happening to you. What your President just did in that clip is weird. Honestly weird.
I wish you well – but with that bloke I wonder whether you can even survive.
