Here’s some perspectives from my 9 months in Egypt.
It’s not just the Muslim Brotherhood that hates Israel; virtually everybody here does, including Christians. It’s brainwashing 101 and a history I don’t even recognize when I talk to folks here about it. The so-called Nakba has been transformed to “Vini, vidi, vici”.
The money America gives to Egypt is peanuts compared to the money tourism brings in. This should be noted.
As far as liberalism and democracy goes, the internet and modern music are breaking that down. Even Egyptians that dislike the US government love the culture. They will become Americans before Americans fall to sharia. The fundamental nature of American democracy is that it gives in to human desire, like it or not. Islam denies this desire and cannot win in the long run.
As far as the middle east following us home. Simply shut off immigration from the middle east. There is no need to invest further in involvement over here to fend off what is essentially a baby boom. It’s a waste of resources.
