Watching a late night political program here in the UK, in which Lauren was given her 5mins, it was interesting to note that not once did she actually speak of her conversion in terms of religion. What she did say was highly revealing; it was all about ‘men’ and ‘respect’.
Elsewhere I read that one of her reasons was to make a point to her brother-in-law, Tony Blair – yet another male-focused rationale.
Other than this banging on about men, the impression I formed when watching this program was that Lauren was part of the whole poster campaign currently trying to convince people that women are equal in Islam – since that was the main thrust of her comments. That she is involved with Press TV didn’t do anything to allay my suspicions. Again – not a single reference to Allah, the faith, the beliefs, the practices….just an insight into Lauren’s issues surrounding womens’ ‘struggle’ with men.
