The one reason to become Muslim is that you believe that there is only one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and Jesus – the God who revealed Torah to the Jews, and that Muhammad was the Messenger of God who appeared to the ignorant tribes of Arabia, and confirmed the former scriptures. That’s it.
Either you believe that a Faith is divine in origin, or you don’t. All that other stuff is irrelevant.
One can believe in the validity of Moses and Jesus and not be fanatic.
One can believe in the validity of the mission of Muhammad and not be fanatic. One can not believe anything, and not be fanatic in their disbelief.
