Why do you get to accuse Catholicism of subjugating women? The Catholic faith holds all peoples as equal. The bible said that a woman should submit to the will of her husband as he is the head of the house, but that does not mean that she is his pawn. She still has a voice in the home and in the world, it just means that when it comes the decision, the husband is the strong voice of the home.
