A Hairdresser, a Hijab, and a ‘Hate Crime’

I’m of two minds over this. If the woman was qualified and could cut hair really well–better than the other applicants–she should have gotten the job. There are other cultures/religions that cover their hair too, and it doesn’t stop them from accomplishing things. However, the salon owner has the right to hire whomever she wants based on any standard criteria, including appearance, as long as the reason doesn’t break the law. The problem for Muslims is that the more they insist on special treatment, the less employers are likely to hire them.
