Is she (Palin) electable? Well, you don’t want her, but you just said, “…As much as I would rather have Palin over the current guy (if that were the choice),…”. So…you would elect her, right? Well, others may feel the same as you — she’s not their first choice, but they would vote for her if she were the nominee. Polls have shown generically that a Republican — any Republican — will be chosen over Obama or any other Democrat in 2012. Besides this, why wouldn’t the GOP want to take this rare opportunity to “make history” by being the party that elected the first woman president? This is what the Dems do. In fact, they will elect anyone – legally eligible or not – just to have the first black, the first woman, the first whatever. Why don’t Republicans want to be the “first”? What an achievement that would be. And Palin is Constitutionally eligible, she’s experienced (remember, she’s a governor, too), she’s been a CinC, she’s dealt with Russia in so much as Alaska being a neighbor that must “get along” – co-exist – with them, she’s led the energy initiative in Alaska. She’s well qualified, and…the GOP would have bragging rights to the first woman president. My guess as to why they don’t? Unlike Dems, Repubs are deeply entrenched in good old white boys, and fiercely guard the clubhouse door for fear of becoming irrelevant.
