Now comes the harder part. As I understand it, the federal government is sovereign. You cannot sue it or its employees. They can sue the States, however. Can they sue individuals who engage in malfeasance? It is the only way to keep them from cheating. Do these guys care if the State has to pay a fine? No. But if you can pin it on an individual, now you can punish the true malefactors. Make them hurt specifically, and they may not want to be the one left holding the bag.
I’m thinking specifically of the guy who withheld the ballots in the vain hope that a 3rd party candidate would get added to siphon votes from the Pubs, as an example. Make the individual pay! That’s how you end this nonsense.
This is just the first (very big) step. How about other States? Will they use this as precedent? Still, it is a big victory.
