Slap, you missed my point. And that was precisely my point! This whole time, I was trying to demonstrate that blacks CAN be racist. But many blacks feels that they cannot. I have been in the US Army for a very long time and the Army’s Equal Opportunity Program actually teaches that whites are the only ones capable of racism. The Army points out that minorities are powerless to be racist, prejudice, or conduct any discrimination. The Army even goes as far to say that white soldiers are the only cause for all minority deviant behavior. Therefore, minorities cannot be held responsible for their ill actions because the white man made them do it. In all fairness, in 15 years of service, I have never seen that used in court, but I guess it is possible. One last point: according to the Army, White-Americans and White-Europeans contributed little to nothing to American society or history (including military history).
I know that whites contributed much to this country and so did all the other races. I also know that many contributions that minorities, notable blacks, made have been overlooked. We all know that. And it still is occurring today. I know that white history is filled with racism. I know that minorities were kept down for soooo long. But to the most part, those days are over. Not completely over, put close. In my opinion, we can’t completely close those doors by opening up other doors that allow racism towards whites. That since to be the case. For instance, look at the Army. The Army’s EO Program actually states that minorities cannot be racist; only whites can. The Army actually states that minorities do not have power. How is that equal opportunity? I am white, but hearing the Army’s EO Program telling minorities that they are powerless really makes me mad. It should make everyone mad. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Someone tells you that you are powerless and victims for a long time, you will probably start to feel that way. Just look at the posts in this forum. On the other side of the coin—If the Army tells white soldiers that they are the only ones that can be racist because they are the ones with power, they are probably believe it too. See, the Army’s Equal Opportunity Program does not benefit anyone. I tried to make an EO complaint with the Army but they refused to accept it. The EO advisor even threatened my career if I tried to file it. My commander even ordered me to stop making the EO complaint, which is a violation of military law. But he got away with it. White soldiers are not allowed to make an EO complaint but minorities can. This is wrong. Everyone can be racist. I can and you can. But according to the Army, only whites can. Only whites can have power—and this is wrong.
All I wanted to do is demonstrate this. I feel that I was successful. Unfortunately, I could not make an EO complaint to let all soldiers know that the EO Program is counterproductive. So, my wife decided to turn my EO complaint into a book. The book has been out for only a few weeks but I hope that the EO program can change. We need an EO Program that states that any race can be racist. We need an EO Program that actually brings equal opportunity. Once the Army finds out about the book, I will likely lose my career. If that is what it takes to get equal opportunity for all-then so be it. If you would like to read a few excerpts, go to www.eodoublestandard.net.
