Men, the Gender Wars Are Over — We Won

Men only became the sole “breadwinners” after industrialization. Before that, families worked together on whatever enterprise they had. Whether it was on the farm, keeping shop, and often for instance scientists married women interested in science themselves. If anything, our history tells us that it is not natural for a woman to wait patiently at home for a man and throw all her trust for her financial future in him. Children used to work just as hard on the farm; it wasn’t until anti-child labour laws came into being that they were sent off to school, leaving housework solely up to the mother. Who needs your prescribed gender roles? They don’t work for me, and they don’t work for most of society, a collective of individuals.
