Gunned Down in Vegas: What Really Happened to Erik Scott?
he had a permit, the police knew this, he had done nothing to anyone that would require police. Security talked to erik and told him that it was a no guns policy store, but never asked him to leave the store. The store had NO SIGNS at the front of the store of explaining their no guns policy. I used to shop there.
He was not destroying property, he was buying bottles and an icechest and wanted to see how many he could get in the chest. He was purchasing these items.
He was not wanting to commit suicide, he was there on a saturday shopping with his GF.
police shot this man 2 times in the chest, then immediately shot him 5 more times in the back!
Erik was being evacuated from the store unbenounced to him, that the store was being evacuated because of him having a legal firearm. police knowing he already had a firearm, gave him many conflicting commands, including to disarm/drop it. Father is ex LEO and those would never be the commands to give to a suspect that is known to be armed.
But erik did screw up by being on pain medication while carrying a firearm, and also carrying a concealed weapon that was not on his CCW card, but those 2 no-no’s should never end up with being literally shot down like a piece of meat.
Erik was taught to immediately inform police that he was legally armed, and that is exacly what he did.
Metro has been caught in the recent past of lying to keep police officers being held criminally negligent for their screw ups, then changing the story when they get caught in their lies.
If erik had brandished his weapon, or was robbing the costco, then hell yeah shoot his ass…All this kid was doing was shopping and legally carrying his firearm to protect him and his family from the evils of what is Las Vegas. Little did he know it would be the supposed “good guys” he really needed to worry about.
1 of these officers already killed a man 4 years ago, so this is 2 people in 5 years on the force. He still believes he is in Iraq, is my best guess, and we are all terrorists to him.
these officers were in front of costco for 6 mins and could not figure out to at least get one officer with a taser, so if things did start to escalate, he could be tased, because as of the call, all he did wrong was have a legal firearm in his possession. he committed no crime intially, (his carrying of a firearm not on his permit and being on medication while carrying are crimes, but not death sentences)
Hey, if you think it is OK for police to over react and kill citizens that have committed no crime, then i hope for you, that you never have to lose someone over basically nothing. Police are trained to deal with situations all the time, and if they cant even diarm a man in a costco that isnt committing a crime, then they dont need to be on the force.
Officer moeser knew the man had a legal weapon, yet treated him like he just walked out of a bank with a bag full of money and a bank full of dead hostages. really, 12 officers, two command teams and a helicopter, for a call that a man was legally armed in a costco? It takes metro 45 mins to respond to anything here in Vegas, yet the whole damn force was at costco that day for not even so much as a misdemeanor.
how about the security recording mysteriously goes out less than 2 days before the shooting but miraculously starts working again just hours after the murder, ahh i meant shooting. I want to see the phone records of costco to see if they called the security company reporting an outage like what was testified to, also by a costco employee.
The costco employees have to keep their jobs, Who wants to lose their job in this economy, especially since costco pays better than average for meanial labor, and nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the country.
The nevada coroners inquest proceedings are a non adversarial proceeding where only the DA gets to build a case; the defense only gets to submit written questions and then they only get asked if the judge allows them. Judge abbotangelo(sp) is supposedly a very fair judge, and has asked many of the defenses questions but many have not been, and the defense does not get to cross examine nor object to any line of questions the DA feels fit, and has led witnesses, as well as, reminding witnesses of what they testified to earlier in written and/or oral statements.
the worst thing about this whole charade is that they made this guy out to be nothing short of a drug addict. The man had massive back problems and was trying to keep from being incapacitated by pain, something I know about. How many of you while having a really bad headache taken more advil then advised on the bottle, or how many people have been prescribed pain meds, and when the stuff is not working take more than prescribed dosage??? I will raise my hand because i know I have, whatever it takes to relieve the pain…try having a broken back a degenerating disc, and bone spurs, all with an unstable spine and tell me if you are not going to take more medication then prescribed to keep the pain at bay, so you are not a bed ridden idiot… And this man broke his back from a paratropper school training accident, not from raping babies or killing goats. the man was a west point grad, a duke university alumnus and a veteran, with a good job, a girlfriend and was 28, his whole life in front of him…
As I said, my father is ex-leo and I have been around pigs my whole life. (pig= pride integrity and guts) so i am no cop hater, but I do hate bad cops, and in my opinion these 3 are the worst. they took a simple situation and turned it deadly.
