Barry D from San Diego is right. If you have to take the train from SD to Santa Ana because you have no car, chances are someone you know have to pick you up from the station and take you to your final destination, which could be additional 15-20 minutes. Like he says, you can ride and train and stop at LA, but it doesn’t mean you’d be where you want to be.
Now in countries like S.Korea or Japan (relatively small countries for sure), you can ride a train, get off at Seoul or Shinjuku, and WALK home from there. Or catch a bus. Filling up an empty tank at South Korea is supposed to be 100+ plus dollars, I imagine it’s more expensive now. But Koreans have a viable alternative to driving cars at their own expense.
