Addition to the above remark: At a certain time, one of Glibama’s selling points was that his past (i.e. Indonesia school years) made him better fit than others to handle/transcend (pardon the expression) other cultures, etc.
Yet this man (is he 46?) never had the curiosity to travel abroad, Tijuana, Kiev, Montreal, Hong-Kong, you name them, are all foreign, exotic places for him. Leaving aside that (pretty obscure) Indonesian period, he was only once in Iraq, a couple of years ago and he cut short the trip to fly to Africa for a triumphalist junket – and that’s all.
I find this very well fitting with his (very focused) yet parochial existence in which his world views have been provided by Ayres, Wright or who knows what other “visionaries”. Obama’s intriguing mixture of ignorance, narcissism, naivite and cunningness would be a great liability for this country – if elected.
