Not necessarily. If you authored the McCain-Feingold bill (a terrible piece of legislation but another story) for instance, you’d be expected to take the public funding route. Also, if you’re running against politics as usual and the corrupting influence of money in the system, and if you vowed publicly to do so, you’d think a candidate would take the public option.
Conservatives generally don’t care that Obama has taken the private funding route. In fact, many of us applaud that. What we do have a problem with is advocating one standard for everyone else and exempting himself from those same standards. Do you think there are other issues where BO might do the same? I certainly do.
