hello,
“At the moment I am not going to check Judeo- Christian vs Islam when it comes to each states legal system. This can go in directions that I do not wish. I will say I trust my judgment to research information. Rather than sit back and get information around the water cooler.”

— I promise that if you were to make a comparative analysis of Jewish legal precedence against Islam’s legal precedence that you will only go in directions you do not wish only if you wish to consider both systems to be equally humane. From the shallows to the depth you will find Muslim orthodoxy to be far less inclined towards human decency.

— I never suggested that you were getting your information from around a water cooler. At least the stupid things said around a water cooler can be dismissed on pure ignorance. The stupid things taught to you in college, on the other hand, are certified and accredited. Those professors did you a disservice, taking your money and handing you opinions clothes as fact.

davod,
Quoting from my post, “For the Bible, the interpretive or precedent recording text is called the Talmud”.

The Bible, in Hebrew Tanach, is the Torah, Prophets and Writings (Song of Songs, Psalms etc…). I suppose you would have had an easier time understanding if I had written “Hebrew Bible” or “Old Testament”. Point being, when I think of the Bible the Torah is the fundamental text. It is here that we find the various laws given to the Jews and provides the core text of the Jewish Judicial System. You are right then in considering the Talmud (both Babylonian and Jerusalem) to be the codification of what had been an oral tradition of precedent setting cases based on the Torah.

While saying that the Torah is the Bible is perhaps not a full expression of what constitutes the Bible, saying that the Torah is not the Bible happens to exclude a text which even Christians consider to be part of their Bible.
