Don Cox, in America people with even one black parent are simply considered black. The best theory I know of for this is that people who have one black and one white parent tend to look black to white people. Barak Obama has made this point, when he said something to the effect of “no one said ‘look at that half black guy’” when they saw him walking down the street. In Africa, a person who has only one black parent is not necessarily considered black.
