If Bill White wins the governorship, he also gets to appoint the Secretary of State, who is the chief election officer of the state. Recall that it was the Minnesota Secretary of State that certified Al Franken’s election, while reporting that his office “received no reports whatsoever of fraudulent voting occurring” — never mind that 17,000 more votes were tallied in the Senate race than there were registered voters (see http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/01/29/states-secretaries-state-tipping-balance-power/)!
