What a dopey article and stupid premise. Obama got elected because he ran a slick, well-organized campaign and was the Anti-Bush (or maybe even the Anti-Republican): well-spoken, smart, well-informed and had his eye on what would be best in the long run for the country and the world at large. Race had nothing to do with it. Of course, as soon as he was looking as a threat, the usual right wing numbnuts attacked.
Colin Powell could have been a strong Republican candidate at one point before the party became radicalized and before he knowingly lied at the UN when he used a Powerpoint presentation to lay out BS “evidence” to justify attacking Iraq. That he and his people recanted this craven act later was way too little, way too late.
