The most disturbing comment made by Abbas in his speech at the White House on Aug 31, 2010 was not translated in the official White House transcript nor was it noted in by the CNN commentators during and after the speeches. Abbas said: “We want a peace that will correct the historical injustice caused by the (inaudible) of 1948, and one that brings security to our people and the Israeli people.” I distincly heard the translator use the “inaudible: word, “Nakba”, the Catastrophe, which Abbas, Arafat, Hamas, many Israeli Arabs including Members of the Knesset call the War of Independence that created the State of Israel. If there is any doubt about the bias of the media reporting the words of so-called “Arab moderates” as “partners for peace” and the real intentions of Abbas, the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Hizbollah, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the Muslim leadership, the use of the word “Nakba” for the creation of the State of Israel makes clear their true intent–the destruction of the State of Israel.
