The author herself experienced a possible dry run on a US Air flight, I believe. Then there was the experience of the actor James Woods on a LA-NY flight about a month or so before 9-11. He saw a lot of suspicious behavior by a group of men and reported it to the FBI. They interviewed him once, briefly.
If these guys were not released so quickly, the official version might have some credence. As it is, it appears to be a coverup or incompetence beyond available belief.
