You have the right concept that it is about who presents himself best. However, Obama was completely lying about himself and his intentions. Because of this, it was imperative that McCain strip away the lies, unmask the beast for what he is. You simply cannot let him get away with his misrepresentations and expect to win.
McCain, therefore, had to point out to folks: this is who he is; this is where he will take us; these will be the results. McCain lost, because he could not challenge all the falsehoods and explain the truth of things to people. We are where we are, because the lies have blinded us to the truths.
A good example is my reply above regarding the difference between Socialism and Communism. The liars have sold the lie that they are different things. They are not. They are Communism and Communism-lite. Great taste. Less oppressive. Until someone comes along who knows how to unmask the liars and expose the lies, things are never going to get better.
So, yes, one must get one’s fist in his face and rip away the mask.
