The author’s own bio at the bottom of the article says he USED to be a radical. The question then is whether the video you posted is from before or after his alleged change to a moderate. If the link you posted is from before his change, then there’s no contradiction. Then maybe he really is a moderate.

I don’t understand how someone who says all that he says in this article still wants to call himself a Muslim. But there’s no question there are some genuine activist moderate Muslims out there. Not many. Zudhi Jasser. Maybe Stephen Schwartz. A few others. I don’t understand what a real moderate sees in Islam, since the core documents of Islam seem so totalitarian and violent.
