progressives are for, well, progress in moving government and civilization at large forward

Oh, gee, then I guess I should just do whatever it is you tell me will enable this wondrous result!

Did it ever occur to you that what you call “progress” may not actually be “progress” or that others’ idea of “progress” may differ from yours or that there actually is no such thing as “progress” at all, other than in a narrow, technological sense? Do you really think YOU or others who share your politics represent some progress over and above Socrates, who lived thousands of years ago? Puh-leeze. If I could bring Socrates back from the dead for an hour by killing every single Leftist alive today, I’d do it without blinking.

Me thinks that if you think that what progressives espouse is anywhere nearly analytical enough to be called philosophy that you have no clue what philosophy is. No philosopher worth his salt would ever ally with a purely political movement such as progressivism, since to do do would be to assume that all the questions of life and the universe were answered by one credo, which is exactly what the article here is saying is the fundamental flaw of Leftists. “Homo unius libri” as the Romans used to say. And boring to boot.
