What underlies the debate about the WTC mosque is safety – personal safety, safety for one’s family, and safety for America. If there are non-Muslims who support the mosque, it is because they believe in the depths of their hearts that they will be safer if the Muslims can be brought on board with American ideals. If there are those who are opposed to the mosque, it is because they do not trust Muslims because of their poor behavior in the recent and distant past.
Are you among those who see pussy-cat traits in the behavior of a lion or are you the sort that sees a lion’s behavior the way your house cat comports itself, and so you protect yourself even from your pet.
Both ordinary types of people get eaten by lions, but at different moments in their relationships. While most are being digested, only the truly agile get to hang lion skins on their walls.
