You just don’t get it. This country was able to thrive and prosper from it’s use of free labor. That is a major factor in our capitalist democracy. There are many U.S. companies that benefited and started directly from that labor.

Baloney. Please tell me one major corporation existing today that WERE IT NOT FOR FREE SLAVE LABOR would not exist? If slave labor were so productive, people wouldn’t have invented machines to take the place of slave labor. If slave labor were so productive, why did the South lose the Civil War?

The country didn’t actually start to really thrive and prosper until after slavery was abolished. Therefore, slavery can’t be the “heart” of what makes America America, which is your claim. I’m saying that hypothesis doesn’t survive an analysis of the actual historical data. If you don’t understand that, or don’t have an empirical rebuttal of that, just keep your opinions to yourself.

Our history is us. I wish they would teach more of it. So when a person meets a person like you they don’t walk away confused.

“Our history is us”? What claptrap. History is other people. Otherwise, it’d be autobiography. Sorry, but I don’t do pseudo-profundity. And the reason you’re confused is because you haven’t taken the time to actually think about something someone told you once and explore its implications to see if they comport with reality.

This country is only 230 years old. Your jumping 5000 years in future. What will the earth look like? Will man be here? Let alone our politics. Where is the stargate? Beam me up.

If you truly understand human nature, 5000 years is no different from 50 years because human nature doesn’t change.
