Ninja Cultist
The essay had me right up until, “In contrast, there’s no such class of people on the right…”The Professional Right doesn’t feed off taxpayers, but they do exist.
Perhaps you should read the whole thing this time, and work on that comprehension thingy.
The author said that there is a “professional right” but that it was not taxpayer and charity funded, and it’s size and reach is miniscule compared to the “professional left”, whose slimy tentacles insert themselves into every niche of America where opinion is shaped: the mainstream media (which even includes taxpayer funded NPR and PBS), the entertainment industry, the schools, the universities, the unions, the arts, the government bureaucracies, and increasingly, the churches, and more. They’ve been at this in earnest for at least 70 years, and now have massive control over all those arenas.
On the other side, both Fox News and talk radio have been around only since the mid-90′s. Before that, what did conservatives have? Firing Line, the National Review, and??? And all the professional left have been on an overt witchhunt against Fox News, talk radio and the internet, the only three areas that the right has to communicate, organize and get the real reality instead of the alternate one we’ve been spoon-fed these many decades.
And also consider that we have had only the Republican Party to speak for us politically all this time. Half of them are country-clubbers, Progressives-lite who just want to get to the Collective a little slower than the left. Look at who the media picked for us in 2008 – an old man who wants amnesty for illegals, opposed the Bush tax cut, “crossed the aisle” to co-author McCain-Feingold, and was consistently rated as one of the most liberal Republicans in the Senate. He was even considered by Kerry as a possible running mate, and Lieberman was on his short list for VP.
If we don’t start fighting back soon and fighting back hard, we are so screwed.
