There is a larger issue here. As wrong as the AP was in this particular case, there are many bloggers who “write” blogs that are largely just unlicensed reproductions of the AP and other parts of the MSM. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve seen a whole hell of a lot more than just 12% being excerpted; 50-75% wasn’t that uncommon.
There is a responsibility to not only excerpt properly, but to add/generate a lot of original content that many bloggers just don’t respect.
