Why the World Hates America

Religious freedom? Sounds nice, reads well, but in practice the American public is adverse to any religion other than Christianity. Is that religious freedom? Gallup polls have shown that 38% of Americans wouldn’t vote for the best qualified candidate simply because he or she is Muslim and 48% would reject an Atheist. And what about these two groups chances in the job market if they make their faith or lack thereof known?

Before anyone joins in a choral call singing the praises of America’s corner on the market of religious tolerance they should first look in the mirror and ask how tolerant are we really? This country was not founded on Christianity as was made plain by the founding fathers in their first act of diplomacy with Morocco (the first country to recognize our sovereignty) when they assured their Moroccan counterparts that we were a secular nation looking to have relations with them, not a Christian nation.

But how far we have strayed from that notion.
