Since 1776 America has acted because it was in America;s interest to act. That interest is defined by the citizens thru their representatives.
Nations don’t have friends, nations have interests. If another nations shares those interests, they are allies, If another nation is antithetical to those interests, they are enemies.
There is no like nor dislike involved. Fwance and America have never ‘liked’ each other. Fwance helped us in the revolutionary war because it was a chance to screw England. The US sent Fwance enough grain in 1792 to feed them for 6 months ( 192 ships, averaging about 500 tons each). Not because we liked them or felt gratitude ( a disease of dogs, according to Uncle Joe) but because it was a chance to screw England.
Then in 1917 we started screwin’ Germany, England was more fun, but when you wait ’till last call you get what’s left.
International relations has been described as two countries screwin’ each other.
The problem most nations have with the USA is that we are always on top. Americans shouldn’t feel guilty since someone has to be on top and it might as well be us. After all, the first mass produced condom was by Goodyear, the tire dude. American.
The Germans have invented spray on condoms. I guess for those hard to fit clients. Anyway, since Germany has opened a lead in the condom gap, I guess they will get the top position in international relations.
