I happen to know that this is the first election in 30 years where every member of my extended family but 1; cousin’s, aunt, uncle, grandfather as well as my parents and siblings, are voting Republican in November. In a family of 18 all but that one have already decided McCain when 6 of them voted Democrat since the sixties (those of voting age then) and the 4 of the younger members voted Democrat in every election as they grew into voting age. I have been eligible to vote since Clinton’s first term and only voted Republican in the last election. I’ve had a fundamental shift in my worldview since 9-11 and living abroad. But, its only those who voted Republican in the past who are maintaining their voting habits and Dems who are shifting in this election. There is allot of time between now and the election but I think it just as likely we can get that one family member to change her mind as there is a chance that any of the regular Dems would change their vote to Obama.
