Wow, Allahu Akbar. Can we say “anger management?”

“Anyway, you paranoid Internet Tough Guys (R) with your knuckleheaded syntactical blunders have been baited by a cheap fantasy, which distracts you with a convenient hate figure from your laughably hapless lives. You are shouting up a drainpipe, you halfbreed cretins with your barely disguised race hate.”

Or how about “hyperbole?”

Seriously, my friend — the way to achieve understanding is not to fling weapons, physical or verbal. (And I’d say that to anyone — it’s just that your words are so breathtaking in their excess.)

By now, everyone should realize that Islam is not one big umbrella, but a mosaic of sects, each with their own distinctive beliefs. Not all Muslims advocate strict sharia (stoning people, etc.), for example.

However, it’s these more “conservative” beliefs (I read them as “repressive and dangerous”) that worry the average Westerner. Furthermore, that there doesn’t seem to be enough public condemnation of them — except from a few brave writers, who then seem to get death threats! Can you not see the irony when devotees of the “religion of peace” go on violent rampages every time their religion is “insulted?”

You can see how fundamentally different many Muslims’ beliefs and actions are to the Western tradition. Speaking as an American, I welcome anyone, of any religion, so long as s/he respects OUR laws and traditions and doesn’t try to change them.

In an effort to learn more about Islam, I found a very good site — muslimmatters.org — which seems to present important issues in a very civil and respectful manner. The comments generated on its articles run the gamut from progressive to fundamentalist, and I’ve learned a great deal.

I suggest you do the same.
