I heard Mr. Oren on the radio yesterday, speaking with Dennis Prager and I enjoyed hearing him take questions from listeners. Left-wing activists, whom I believe have no love for our country’s true history, must hope that most citizens are too lazy to study world and American history as it relates to the current threat against us. As for myself, I just noted Burton’s Translation of “The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night” sitting next to Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales in Modern English” on my bookshelf. Go figure.
Each time I have the chance to applaud our President, I do, so please bear with me. Bush’s transition of the terror war, or call it what it is, the civilization clash, to a military arena, and create a front for the armed services in Irag, was good leadership. I believe history will judge him kindly. Quagmire that it is, it was a good start.
I thank President Bush that many of the fevered jihadists from many countries are busy in Iraq, with the notable exception of OBL, and the ever trecherous Taliban.
Many of Mr. Oren’s answers and the comments about his book here give me some encouragment about post 9/11/2001 American awareness. I look forward to reading “Power, Faith and Fantasy” in conjunction with “Team of Rivals,” a book about President Lincoln. Reading about historical connections is calming.
