What is most worrying to my wife, a Londoner, is the fact that the unions feel so empowered under the weak Gordon Brown. Right now we have petrol lorry drivers, who make about $70k a year striking for a 13% increase in their wages. Other unions are promising more trouble over the summer. There are those mumbling about another “winter of discontent”.
Rest assured Gordon Brown will hold on until the last possible minute to hold an election. It will be interesting to see if Labour knife and get someone new in before that time.
