I pledged in 1997 that should Labour win the general election, I would make every effort to flee the country, as it was inevitable that sooner or later they would wreck the place, as they have done every time voters’ memories fade sufficiently to let the vermin back in. Labour duly won, I moved in 1999, and watched my predictions come true. It’s distressing seeing the utter shambles the incompetent autist Gordon Brown has made of the excellent economy he inherited, but sadly not surprising. Strikes are on the rise, taxes are swingeing, public services are appalling, cronyism and corruption are rife. All we need now is a sterling crisis to recreate the dog days of the previous Labour administration under Jim Callaghan.
