I like Obama. I think he seems like a genuinely nice guy. I also have no intention of voting for him whatsoever, because I think he’s too inexperienced and strongly disagree with him on his stance on Iraq, among other things.
Michelle? I read a comment on her once — can’t remember where — that indicated “she displays a combination of bitterness and entitlement that is quite disturbing” that I find fairly accurate. Comments such as “for the first time in my life I can be proud of my country,” or such as “I’m married to the answer” or her enumeration of things Barak Obama is going to *require* us to do, don’t endear her to me either. She didn’t convince me *not* to vote for her husband, but she sure isn’t helping.
I’ve heard the argument that ” can’t be racist” before, paired with its fellow “women can’t be sexist.” To me, it’s always sounded like a way to give members of said ethnic group who buy into it a free pass on being as vitriolic and hatefilled as they want (as well as giving a secret, guilty thrill to those whites/men who buy into it, by flattering them with a vastly exaggerated notion of their own power). It’s a sick game that ultimately benefits no one. Hate is hate and bigotry is bigotry, no matter the skin color or chromosome type, and one truism about hate is that the hater always seeks for validation and justification for their hatred.
