One of the advantages of living in hurricane country, on a SF beach as I do, is you can ‘see them coming from a long way off’. Unlike Earthquakes and other problems, hurricanes telegraph their coming well in advance. Why the obsession with ‘predicting’ I have never understood. No one can predict the future, and the hurricane forecasters have shown us how that works.
So when one shows up, you take it’s measure, if it’s got your name on it, you run like hell. Simple, low stress, no predictions required.
Batteries are the least of your worry. You mean you don’t have a Walmart MagLite and spare batteries, water and can foods, boy are you asking for it — On any day. It’s the tropics and the tropics do what they always do. Oh yeah, don’t bother with the mobile homes, they can easily get you killed some afternoon.
Who but the dumb are not prepared in Florida, have you seen the thunder storms, tornadoes, and winds that roll through on a summer’s afternoon?
OK, my prediction — I predict the forecasters will be wrong, as usual.
