The essential thing in all this is that the hoax was perpetrated for long enough for it to achieve that which it was intended to achieve – all the items listed by Senator Plancade, and more.

It is about the New York Times effectively downplaying the Holocaust when it was being perpetrated on the Jewish people. Sure, everyone lamented after the event but by that time 6 million Jews were dead. This would seem to be a deliberate technique to deceive until it is too late.
It is of far less value to expose the al Dura lie now, when the world has moved on to the next round of deceptions, Goldstone, Gaza flotillas, de-legitimisation of Israel, the whole Obama-Israel setup, etc, etc, than when it might have been effective to stop all this. The Israeli Government itself is found wanting in this failure to expose the cover-up of the lie.
