I remember the Steyn column that Ted says slurs old people. There was immense praise for a heroic man – one who had survived the holocaust and built a beautiful life – who used his last moments to protect his students. It was a beautiful tribute to that man.
As a writer Steyn did make clear the contrast of this selfless, loving, heroic behavior with the behavior of stronger younger people and asked why the difference.
Poor Ted, wandering over the earth in a thick fog.
