The comment about Rabin and the verge of peace is just way off base. Arafat had begun the bus bombing campaigns before Rabin’s murder; at least 75 Israelis died in three bus explosions before the assassination; in proportional terms, this is the same as if 3000 Americans died = the WTC number of victims.

Rabin was having grave doubts about Oslo. Regarding Yigal Amir, he committed a crime assuming he acted alone and without manipulation from others. That is far from clear if you study the circumstances of the event and what preceded it, including Amir’s friendship with a Shabak (Shin Bet) asset called Avishai Raviv. But we won’t go there.
