So odd to have someone like you refer to facts. I’m surprised you even know the word. We use facts a lot in the reality-based world. Come join us sometime. There’s lots of room: but it is getting crowded as more and more conservatives sign up after the haze of the Bush years.

As for proof: google it, it is not too hard. But to save you a bit of time:

Shaidle on apartheid: http://www.fivefeetoffury.com/:entry:fivefeet-2008-06-01-0000/ and http://www.fivefeetoffury.com/:entry:fivefeet-2007-12-20-0010/

Shaidle on segregation: http://www.fivefeetoffury.com/:entry:fivefeet-2008-04-16-0005/ and this beauty – http://www.fivefeetoffury.com/:entry:fivefeet-2008-04-16-0003/ – where she says that all rights are not equal.

Some more on Shaidle: http://www.warrenkinsella.com/index.php?entry=entry080310-230224 (ignore the source of the links – and obvious Shaidle detractor – and click on the links themselves for Shady in her own ugly words)

Maybe it is unfair to lump Steyn and others like Ezra Levant in with Shaidle. But they do like to flail around together. But there are tons of articles by Steyn on how detainees should be denied due process and other rights even though they have not even been charged.

Besides, Steyn, when he’s not telling us paraplegics got what they deserved on 9/11 (http://thetyee.ca/Mediacheck/2007/04/24/MarkSteyn/) has his own dictionary of name calling: Calls the Chinese “chinks” and “gooks,” the Japanese “japs;” calls Indians “wogs;” calls natives “Injuns;” calls Muslims “monkeys” and rapists, and so on. (http://tinyurl.com/4a6tob) That’s when he’s not too busy getting his editors to censor writers in the same magazine or newspaper as he did at the National Post (http://tinyurl.com/4mrjsg).

Ezra Levant, another one of this crowd of martyr wannabes and the one who recently distributed popular buttons at the Conservative Party convention saying the Charter of Rights was “stupid”, publishes death threats against his opponents (http://tinyurl.com/5xk6vm) and calls for muslim extremists to be prosecuted for hate speech (http://tinyurl.com/4zhn3j and http://www.ottawamenscentre.com/news/20041025_preacher.htm) when he’s not suing to silence his critics (http://tinyurl.com/42tk5o).

OK, that’s just a short starter for you. I could go on (and on and on and on and on).

And just to be clear here because clearly there are readers like Anna for whom English is an experiment not a language: the Human “Rights” Commissions are wrong to entertain these charges and the “complainants” are very wrong to have brought the complaints. In fact, I’ve seen them interviewed and they are idiots.

But these self-described free-speech martyrs are no heroes and they are no friend to individual rights and are more interested in selling books, driving up website “hits” and getting their next job and bashing muslims every chance they can, then they actually care about individual rights.
