I read, many years ago (Esquire I think it was) that Foreman stated that Wayne, the night of the Oscar awards, asked Foreman, “Why didn’t you write something like that for me?” Foreman later reported his surprise about Wayne’s denouncing HIGH NOON’S alleged anti-American slant.
