Europe it seems is in deep crap. As others have pointed out Europe has gotten itself in trouble quite a few times in the past 100 years or so and seem incapable of recognizing a problem until it overwhelms them.
How many years did they have to see Hitler for what he was?
WWI wasn’t started the day someone killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria – it was just the trigger event that lead to the actual outbreak of real war between countries that didn’t like each other back then.
The apparently imminent collapse of the European Union can be seen as one more step toward possible hostilities between nations that when you look past the facade of niceties don’t like each other as much as they let on.
Add to this their apparent love of immigrants from the M.E. – and especially of muslim nations and the unrest it fosters – the ‘free lunch’ that is drying up that many of it’s citizens have enjoyed (partly at our expense through military protection) these past 60 years – a downturn of their economy – and things just may get interesting.
Maybe not WWIII but you never know how things will pan out. I see it like a forest fire – let it burn itself out and it won’t happen again for at least a generation or two. Maybe.
