When the Israelis made accusations of links between al Qaeda and IHH, rather than do any research, Jim Clancy just asked his clearly uninformed Istanbul correspondent Ivan Watson what he thought.

Watson replied: “This is a bit of a stretch. This organization IHH was founded in 1995. It’s an Islamist group that tries to help Muslim organizations. Turkey is country that has suffered from al Qaeda attacks, and I really doubt that if there were links to al Qaeda, the Turkish authorities would allow it to operate in public.”

For those who are interested here’s some facts:
From How Hamas fooled the West

In 2001, Jean-Louis Bruguiere, the prominent French counter-terrorism magistrate, said at the trial of the “millennium bomber” that IHH had played “an important role” in the plot to blow up Los Angeles airport.

In 2006, the Danish Institute for International Studies reported that Turkish security forces had raided the IHH’s Istanbul bureau and found firearms, explosives and bomb-making instructions, as well as records of calls to an al-Qaida guest house in Milan.

Amazing how the “free press” works deceiving one and misleading on the stand to be taken on important issues.
