Lovely. Turkey goes over the course of a century from “Sick man of Europe” to faux-moderne “MidnightExpressistan” back to “Sick Man of Europe.” “Turkish progress” is an oxymoron, isn’t it?
The Turks are apparently spoiling for a fight with Israel. That’s nice, but once the Israelis are done with Erdogan & Co., “Izmir” will again be named “Smyrna,” the “Hagia Sophia” will once again be a Christian church, and a Greek-speaking guy named “Justinian” will likely rule in “Constantinople.”
