FBI Crime Stats Show an Armed Public Is a Safer Public

You use the word “laughable”. Why? It would seem that most crimes–even up to a point those of “passion”–are subject to the cost/benefit analysis any other risky activity would be subjected to. When you know that the other person can’t legally own a gun, as in, say, Britain, then your risks are quite low. If you know every other person is packing, that changes things.

I remember some years ago a home invasion I read about. Four men were sitting around a table playing cards, and some guy came busting in with a gun. Two of the men were armed, and they shot and killed him. Simple enough.

This evaluation makes perfect logical sense: more guns, more deterrance, less crime.
