Rough Seas for Israel After Gaza Flotilla Intercepted (Updated through the day)
The enemies of Israel have made it the whipping boy of social democrats who live in western countries. Arguments about who did what to whom are of no consequence. It’s bad for Israel if the Gaza blockade is broken. It’s bad for Israel if the blockade holds by virtue of events that allow this kind of international theatre.
Anyone who has been in a jam knows that decisions are made in a moment. Second guessing by people who were not there is pointless. Same thing applies to this incident. What was done is done. Israel was and is still surrounded by enemies. Because the provacateurs were so successful this time around, there will be sequels.
This flotilla isn’t some jolly campus protest against increased tuition fees. This is a stand off between implacable foes in a violent place. Scandinavian intellectual fellow travellers are taking part of their own volition and shouldn’t expect special treatment. Strange to say, only they can see that halo shining around their intellect. If Stockholm and Oslo were under fire from rocket attacks as Israel is, those intellectuals would of course condemn their own Sweden and Norway as evil places if they took counter measures against the attacks.
