What Federal subsidies? If you mean the DOE, they deal with military tech and education- maybe it should be eliminated, but the debate needs to be honest. If you mean loan guarantees, the nuclear industry pays for those; the government is just writing and selling an insurance policy that no private company would ever write, not because it’s not a good deal, but because no private company could pay off on the policy if they had to. If you mean assuming the waste disposal liability, the rate payers pay for that, too, with a $1/MWh tax on nuclear power to pay for used fuel disposal.
